Roy Odom

He simply has to work in clay! Making ceramic art nourishes his soul and gives flight to the images and ideas derived from nature and the world around him. When he was first "smitten" with clay he knew he had to make it a part of his life. He took a course in clay in college and has never been able to wash the clay from under his fingernails or out of his spirit. Studying with some wonderful potters like Joe Delwaide, Roger Tufts, Karmien Bowmen, Mike Grafe and watching the work of countless others, he has been inspired to pursue and push the boundaries of his creativity...always reaching for a higher level. His work is done primarily on the potter's wheel and is carved, pierced, altered, and, through collaborations with his artist/wife Cindi Wills, includes hand built elements. He is semi-retired from education and is finally able to do what he has always known he should do – coax from the earth and submit to the fire the forms that live in his mind.
